Wanderlust Wednesday: Stories, Photography & Travel Inspiration

Wanderlust Wednesday

Stories, Photography & Travel Inspiration

Travel does not always begin with a booking confirmation. It can begin with a photograph, a memory, a place you cannot stop thinking about, or the simple realization that you want to see more of the world.

Wanderlust Wednesday is where I slow down from the logistics of travel and focus on the part that makes us want to go in the first place.

Why This Series Exists

Travel Starts Long Before Departure Day

For me, wanderlust often starts with something small—a photograph, a story, a memory, or a place I suddenly realize I need to experience for myself.

That feeling is the heart of Wanderlust Wednesday.

Lenses & Latitudes includes practical guides, destination coverage, airport advice and photography tips, but travel is not only about logistics.

It is also about curiosity.

It is about the places that stay in your mind long after you first see them.

It is about returning somewhere familiar with a different perspective, noticing a detail everyone else walks past, or finally deciding to take a trip you have been postponing.

This series gives those ideas room to breathe.

What You’ll Find

Wanderlust Wednesday Is Not One Kind of Story

Travel Stories

Some posts explore a place through memory, experience or the reason I want to return and see it differently.

Photography

A photograph can hold an entire travel memory. Some stories begin with the image and work backward to the moment behind it.

Bucket-List Ideas

There are destinations I have visited but still want to experience more deeply, along with places that remain firmly on my future-travel list.

Perspective

Travel changes as we do. Returning to a familiar destination can reveal just as much as visiting somewhere new.

Encouragement to Go

Not every journey needs to be dramatic. A weekend trip, a scenic drive or a place close to home can still become a meaningful travel memory.

Moments Worth Noticing

Sometimes the most memorable part of a trip is not the landmark you planned to see. It is the detail you almost missed.

The Lenses & Latitudes View

Seeing the World Is Only Part of the Story

Travel and photography have always been connected for me because both begin with paying attention.

A camera encourages me to notice light, architecture, expressions, small details and the way a place feels in a particular moment.

Travel does the same thing on a larger scale.

It interrupts routine.

It asks us to look around.

It gives us stories we could not have collected by staying in the same place.

That is why Wanderlust Wednesday belongs on Lenses & Latitudes alongside the practical guides.

One side helps you plan the trip.

This side remembers why you wanted to go.

A Different Kind of Bucket List

You Do Not Have to Visit a Place Only Once

Some places are not meant to be checked off a list and forgotten.

The Grand Canyon is a perfect example for me.

I have been there before. I even spent my college years in Flagstaff, close enough that visits could happen without turning into a major expedition.

Yet it remains on my bucket list because I still have a version of the experience I want to have.

I want to see it differently.

That idea—the difference between visiting a place and truly experiencing it—is one of the recurring themes behind Wanderlust Wednesday.

Closer Counts Too

Wanderlust Does Not Require a Passport

It is easy to associate wanderlust only with faraway places.

I do not think it works that way.

A road trip through several states can become just as memorable as an international trip.

A small town you had never planned to visit can surprise you.

A historic theater, mural, museum, scenic overlook or unusual restaurant can become the story you remember most from an entire day.

The destination does not have to be famous to be worth your attention.

The goal is not to collect as many places as possible. It is to keep noticing the world around you.

Travel Through the Lens

A Photograph Can Be the Beginning of the Next Trip

I have spent decades behind a camera, and I still believe one photograph can change the way someone sees a place.

That image might make someone want to visit.

It might remind them of somewhere they once loved.

It might make them look again at a place they had dismissed.

Or it may simply preserve a moment that would otherwise have disappeared into an ordinary travel day.

That is why photography will always be part of this series.

Wanderlust is not only about where we go.

It is also about what we choose to notice once we get there.

Keep Looking for the Next Story

The next meaningful trip may begin long before you know the dates, the hotel or the flight number.

It may begin with a photograph.

A memory.

A place you keep returning to in your mind.

A road you have never taken.

Or one simple thought:

I want to go there.
