Loveland Castle was built by Harry D. Andrews, a World War I veteran, educator, scout leader and medieval-history enthusiast.
After serving as a medic during World War I, Andrews spent time in Europe and became fascinated with its castles.
Back in Ohio, he worked with a group of boys who eventually became associated with the Knights of the Golden Trail.
In 1929, Andrews began building the castle on land near the Little Miami River.
