Dinner, Vintage Railcars & an Evening on the Rails
This Cincinnati Dinner Train review is based on my firsthand experience aboard the train, including the four-course dinner, restored vintage railcars, live entertainment, service, seating and overall value. The experience feels very different from a typical restaurant reservation because the train ride itself is part of the evening.
Cincinnati Dinner Train Review: Is It Worth It?
Based on my experience, yes—especially if you enjoy historic trains, unique dining experiences, or are looking for a memorable date night or special occasion near Cincinnati.
I enjoyed prime rib, listened to the Queen City Sisters, and watched the staff celebrate an engagement in our dining car. Those moments made the evening about more than the meal.
The experience combines a multi-course dinner, vintage railcars, live entertainment, and several hours aboard the train, making the journey itself the attraction rather than simply transportation to another destination.
More Than Dinner on a Train
The Cincinnati Dinner Train brings together the meal, restored railcars, live entertainment, and the simple novelty of spending an evening traveling by rail.
The Four-Course Dinner: What I Ate
My dinner began with a snack plate of crackers, cheese, salami, and grapes, followed by a fresh salad. For my entrée, I chose slow-roasted prime rib, served with green beans and a baked potato.
The beef was tender and flavorful, and eating dinner while the scenery passed outside the window added to the experience.
For dessert, I had a slice of New York cheesecake—a rich, creamy finish to the four-course meal. These were the dishes served during my visit; check the current menu when booking, as selections may change.
A Dining Room That Happens to Be Moving
White tablecloths, gleaming silverware, wood-paneled interiors, and window-side tables set the scene as we traveled through Cincinnati.
That vintage atmosphere is a major part of the experience. This does not feel like eating a meal on ordinary transportation. Dinner unfolds gradually while the train itself becomes the setting for the evening.
Most tables seat four, so smaller parties may share with other guests. Two-person tables are limited. If privacy matters for your date night or celebration, confirm your seating options before purchasing.
Cincinnati Views & Onboard History
During my ride, the conductors shared facts about Cincinnati landmarks and the history of train travel over the intercom. Their commentary added context to the scenery and gave us more to appreciate than the view alone.
Sunset over the river was a highlight of my evening, and I photographed the warm sky through the train window.
Live Entertainment & Service
During my ride, the Queen City Sisters, a women’s vocal trio, made their way through the train, singing for guests celebrating birthdays and other special occasions.
Their performances, along with live entertainment in the theatre car, complemented the vintage setting and gave us something to enjoy beyond the dinner table.
The conductors were personable and witty, and I found the service attentive throughout the evening. A couple even got engaged in our dining car, and the staff helped make it a celebration. That shared moment was one of the most memorable parts of my ride.
There was a playful side to the evening, too: the opportunity to blow the train whistle. If you want to try it or take a photograph there, ask the crew for guidance during your visit.
